Welcome to jazzCenter. If you are a Jazz fan, answer this question: Have you ever sat and watched a Jazz game on National television and realized that the team the Jazz are playing, no matter who it is, is getting a lot of recognition and publicity? If so, then this site is for you. This will be a place for you to show your pride as a Jazz fan, and express frustrations and excitement for the team. As a follower you can send in pictures, take polls each week, throw out ideas about what the Jazz should do for the future. This will be a site to hopefully give the Jazz, a small market team in the NBA, the recognition they deserve. I hope you will also share this site with others who you know who are fans of the Utah Jazz.

Tyrone Corbin

After 23 seasons, and back-to-back trip to the NBA finals, Jerry Sloan decided to call it quits. Already inducted into the Hall of Fame, Jerry Sloan will always be considered as one of the most successful coaches ever. Winning more than 1,000 games with 1 team is an accomplishment that most thought would never happen. Think of all the milestones Coach Sloan was apart of while the coach of the Utah Jazz.
*Jerry Sloan: 1,221 wins. 3rd all-time in NBA History.
*John Stockton: 15, 806 assists and 3,265 steals
*Karl Malone: 36,298 career points. 2nd all-time in NBA History.
With all of these accomplishments that Jerry Sloan was able to be apart of, and all the winning seasons, maybe it was time for Jerry to retire. What else was there for him to do?

The other night while watching the Jazz vs Blazers game, they took a vote by text about who should be considered for coach of the year? Tyrone Corbin was one of these candidates. So the question I want to know is: Would it be a HUGE slap in the face to Jerry Sloan if Tyrone Corbin was to win Coach of the Year?

  1. Many seasons Jerry did what others would not have been able to do with the talent the Jazz had. I think he always gained the respect of his players and he made them better. Some of those who had success with the Jazz did not have the same kind of success when they left.

  2. Slap in the face of Jerry? No. Slap in the face of the league? Yes. In the last ten years here are some of the coaches that have won the coach of the year awards and then you tell me.

Mike Brown- When LeBron left he got fired.
Avery Johnson- Got fired the following year
Bryon Scott- Where is he now?
    Sam Mitchell- Who is he?

Jerry Sloan should look at these names and dust off his shoulder cause the league obviously has no clue who a good coach is.

  3. Maybe not a slap in the face. But sad? Yes. In the past the league usually has given coach of the year to a coach who has a sub par, rebuilding or underdog team and somehow beats the odds and has a winning season. Jerry was always expected to win so when he did it wasn't anything spectacular. Coach Sloan was incredible, I feel he should have received this honor more than once. But enough with the old, Corbin is doing a pretty solid job with the young talent he has. If he keeps it up he should definitely in the running.
